1. MORE BENEFITS

NOURISHES PLANT FIBRES. Cotton milk is a natural nourisher for plant fibre yarns. It is the key ingredient in Yarn Food Cotton Wash & Blocking Spray for Plant Fibres that feeds moisture back into your knit or crocheted garments so that they stay soft and last you longer.

EFFICIENT NATURAL FORMULA WITH UP TO 100 WASHES. The plant-derived, enzyme-, dye-, phosphate-, and sodium laurel sulphate-free, biodegradable wash formula only needs 5ml - or 3 pumps - per wash which makes a 500 ml bottle go a long way.

PERFECT FOR TRAVEL. The foldable basin fits in every suitcase. Just add 3 pumps of wool wash to the water-filled basin, leave 20 minutes to soak, open the drain and squeeze out water, then lay out flat or hang to dry. No machine or effort needed. Alternatively, simply pin to shape and spray to freshen up and revive the texture of your handmades when on holiday.

SPRAY BLOCKING REDUCES WASHES THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. Washing your handmades too often can damage the protective coating of the fibres which holds in moisture. Spray-feed your loved items between washes. It brings them back to life and makes them feel so fresh that the next wash can wait a little longer.

DRAINING HOLE BASIN TO REDUCE STRAIN ON FIBRES. Instead of heaving a dangling, heavy mass of yarn garment out of the basin, simply open the drain hole at the bottom to release water while gently pressing to remove excess moisture.

FOLDABLE, LIGHTWEIGHT, STURDY & EASY TO STORE. Dense silicone makes the basin stand up strong when in use while at the same time allowing it to collapse into a flat position for easy storage.

WE SOURCE LOCALLY. As a family business based in the British countryside we know what community means and care greatly to preserve it. This is why we source all our ingredients locally from small businesses like us, because we believe in a world where people still matter and businesses care.

2. FRAGRANCE

The subtle, essential-oil based citrus fragrance makes your knit or crocheted items smell clean and fresh without overpowering the senses.

3. HOW TO USE

COTTON WASH

Fill a sink or basin with one gallon, or 4.5 litres, of cold or lukewarm water. Add 3 pumps (5 ml) of Yarnfood Cotton Wash and soak your garment for 20 minutes. Gently remove from the water, squeeze without wringing, and roll up in a towel to press remaining water out. Lay flat or block to dry.

Washing machine: Suitable for regular or HE machines. Add 9 pumps (15ml) into detergent drawer or directly into the machine. Wash on wool or delicate cycle following your yarn’s care instructions.

BLOCKING SPRAY

Pin your garment to dimension and lightly spray from a distance of 20cm. Avoid soaking the fabric. A fine coat of mist will suffice to feed plant fibres with nourishing cotton milk and freshen it up with a subtle citrus fragrance. Gently pad the garment into shape while the formula is sinking in. Leave to dry.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Whilst blocking, the knitted fabric seemed to retain its integrity instead of stretching out of shape so this process was easier than with just water or with other wool detergents.

FAQs

Why does the water look darker after soaking my knit socks?

Please always test your yarns for colourfastness before washing. The natural cleaning agents in the formula will gently remove grime and dirt from your garment, which will be visible in the basin when you remove your item from the water. For very soiled socks, you can repeat the soaking process twice, or until satisfied with the outcome.

CAN I SOAK MY SOCKS FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES?

In most cases it is safe to soak your socks for longer than 20 minutes, however, we always recommend checking the care information of the yarn you’ve used and special requirements.

Can I use YarnFood in the washing machine?

Yes, you can use Yarn Food in the washing machine on a wool or delicate cycle. Add 15 ml, or 9 pumps, either directly into the machine or into the detergent drawer. Your garments will still be cleaned and fed, but some of the nourishment may be washed out in the rinsing process, which is why
the hand-wash and soak option is the preferred method for Yarn Food.

Testimonials

Just removed my shawl from blocking boards. It feels lovely and softer than before soaking. I love that a small amount can be enough and that it does not create too much foam.
