Reviews
GilWhilst blocking, the knitted fabric seemed to retain its integrity instead of stretching out of shape so this process was easier than with just water or with other wool detergents.
JulieThe sock wash made short work of my partner's post coast path walk socks and they were lovely and springy again.
Just removed my shawl from blocking boards. It feels lovely and softer than before soaking. I love that a small amount can be enough and that it does not create too much foam.
FAQs
WHAT WE GET ASKED A LOT
Your question may have been asked before. Check our list of frequently asked questions to get your answer straight away.
Why does the water look darker after soaking my garment?
Please always test your yarns for colourfastness before washing. The natural cleaning agents in the formula will gently remove grime and dirt from your garment, which will be visible in the basin when you remove your item from the water. For very soiled garments, you can repeat the soaking process twice, or until satisfied with the outcome.
Can I soak my garment for more than 20 minutes?
In most cases it is safe to soak your garment for longer than 20 minutes, however, we always recommend checking the care information of the yarn you’ve used and special requirements.
Why does my garment feel a little soapy after washing?
You will find a light residue remaining in your garment when you first take it out of its bath. Don’t worry, this will be absorbed in the drying process and feed your fibres with essential nutrients so that they stay strong and healthy for longer.
Can I use Yarnfood in the washing machine?
Yes, you can use Yarn Food in the washing machine on a wool or delicate cycle. Add 15 ml, or 9 pumps, either directly into the machine or into the detergent drawer. Your garments will still be cleaned and fed, but some of the nourishment may be washed out in the rinsing process, which is why hand-washing gives the best results for delicate or treasured pieces, though the machine works perfectly well for everyday natural fibres on a wool or delicate cycle.
