Fragrance-free wash and refresher care for natural fibres and sensitive skin.

The Yarn Food Sensitive Wash & Block Kit pairs our 300ml Sensitive Wash with our Sensitive Blocking & Refresher Spray, giving you a complete fragrance-free care routine for delicate natural fibres.

Use the Sensitive Wash when your garment needs a proper clean, and reach for the Sensitive Spray between washes to freshen, reshape and revive fibres without putting the garment through another full wash.

Both formulas are fragrance-free, contain no added perfume or essential oils, and are enriched with aloe vera. They are designed with sensitive skin in mind and are particularly well suited to delicate fibres such as silk.

Ideal for wool, cashmere, silk, cotton, linen and other natural fibres and blends — whether your pieces are handmade, bought or simply too precious to wash more often than necessary.

1. WHY YARN FOOD?

ONE KIT, TWO LEVELS OF CARE
Wash when your garment needs a full clean; refresh between washes when it simply needs freshening or reshaping.

OUR PUREST & SIMPLEST FORMULAS
Both products are fragrance-free, with no added perfume or essential oils, making this our cleanest and most uncomplicated fibre-care pairing.

DESIGNED WITH SENSITIVE SKIN IN MIND
Enriched with aloe vera and created for those who prefer to minimise unnecessary potential irritants.

PARTICULARLY SUITED TO SILK
With no added fragrance oils, the Sensitive range is especially well suited to silk and helps preserve its naturally smooth feel and lustrous appearance.

REDUCE UNNECESSARY WASHING
Not every garment needs a full wash after every wear. The refresher spray lets you freshen and reshape delicate fibres between washes, helping reduce unnecessary wet washing and handling.

IDEAL FOR HANDMADE PIECES TOO
Our roots are in knitting. Use Sensitive Wash for the first wash and full wet block, then use the spray later to reshape handmade garments between washes without repeating the full wet-blocking process.

2. FRAGRANCE

Completely fragrance-free.

Both Sensitive Wash and Sensitive Blocking & Refresher Spray contain no added perfume or essential oils.

This makes the kit ideal for sensitive skin, for anyone who prefers unscented garment care, and for delicate fibres such as silk where avoiding added fragrance oils helps maintain the fibre’s naturally smooth feel and lustre.

3. HOW TO USE

SENSITIVE WASH — HAND WASHING

  • Fill a basin with 5 litres of cold to tepid water.
  • Add 3–6 pumps (5–10 ml) of Sensitive Wash:
  • 3 pumps / 5 ml for soft water
  • 6 pumps / 10 ml for hard water
  • Submerge the garment and leave to soak for 20 minutes.
  • Gently squeeze out excess water. Avoid rubbing, wringing or excessive agitation.
  • Roll the garment in a clean towel and press out further moisture.
  • Lay flat or block to dry.
  • There is no need for repeated rinsing.
  • Always follow the yarn ball’s or garment manufacturer’s washing and temperature instructions.

SENSITIVE SPRAY — TO REFRESH BETWEEN WASHES

  • Lay the garment flat, or hang it where appropriate.
  • Hold the bottle around 20 cm from the fabric and mist lightly and evenly.
  • Gently reshape the garment with your hands if needed.
  • Allow to air dry completely before wearing or storing.
  • For delicate fibres, test first on an inconspicuous area.

SENSITIVE SPRAY — FOR BLOCKING

  • Pin the finished piece to the desired measurements and shape.
  • Mist generously and evenly from approximately 20 cm away.
  • Gently shape the fabric, paying particular attention to edges, stitch definition and areas that need adjustment.
  • Leave until completely dry.

FAQs

Why does the water look darker after soaking my knit socks?

Please always test your yarns for colourfastness before washing. The natural cleaning agents in the formula will gently remove grime and dirt from your garment, which will be visible in the basin when you remove your item from the water. For very soiled socks, you can repeat the soaking process twice, or until satisfied with the outcome.

CAN I SOAK MY SOCKS FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES?

In most cases it is safe to soak your socks for longer than 20 minutes, however, we always recommend checking the care information of the yarn you’ve used and special requirements.

Can I use YarnFood in the washing machine?

Yes, you can use Yarn Food in the washing machine on a wool or delicate cycle. Add 15 ml, or 9 pumps, either directly into the machine or into the detergent drawer. Your garments will still be cleaned and fed, but some of the nourishment may be washed out in the rinsing process, which is why
the hand-wash and soak option is the preferred method for Yarn Food.
