Trade-size, fragrance-free specialist care for natural fibres and sensitive skin.

Yarn Food Sensitive Wash 4L is designed primarily for indie dyers, yarn businesses and professional fibre users who need a gentle, fragrance-free wash in a larger format.

It is our purest and simplest formula, with no added fragrance or essential oils and enriched with aloe vera. Suitable for wool, cashmere, merino, alpaca, mohair, angora, silk, cotton, bamboo, linen and other natural fibres and blends, it offers one versatile wash across a broad range of fibres.

The 4-litre size is also a practical choice for textile studios, costume and wardrobe departments, workshops, retreats and other high-use environments where delicate natural fibres are washed regularly.

Particularly well suited to silk and for anyone who prefers fragrance-free fibre care.

1. WHY YARN FOOD?

MADE FOR INDIE DYERS & PROFESSIONAL FIBRE CARE
Designed for regular use when washing, finishing or preparing larger quantities of natural-fibre yarns and textiles.

OUR PUREST & SIMPLEST FORMULA
No added fragrance or essential oils, giving you a clean, uncomplicated option across a wide range of natural fibres.

DESIGNED WITH SENSITIVE SKIN IN MIND
Fragrance-free and enriched with aloe vera for gentle care of delicate fibres and sensitive skin. The current 4L listing also identifies aloe vera and fragrance-free care as central features of this product.

PARTICULARLY SUITED TO SILK
With no added fragrance oils, Sensitive Wash is a particularly good choice for silk and other delicate fibres where you want the simplest possible care routine.

IDEAL FOR POST-DYE FINISHING
A versatile fragrance-free option for washing and finishing skeins after dyeing, particularly where you don’t want an added scent competing with the finished yarn.

NO REPEATED RINSING REQUIRED
Sensitive Wash uses surfactants that loosen dirt and residues from the fibres and suspend them in the wash water. When the fibres are removed, the loosened material stays in the water rather than settling back into them. Because the formula is low-foaming, repeated rinsing isn’t needed.

This can help simplify the finishing process while reducing unnecessary handling of wet fibres.

TRADE-SIZE VALUE
The 4-litre format offers better value for frequent users, reduces the need for repeated small-bottle purchases and keeps an essential studio product readily to hand.

BEYOND THE DYE STUDIO
Also suited to textile studios, costume departments, workshops, retreats and other environments where delicate natural fibres are washed regularly.

2. FRAGRANCE

Completely fragrance-free.

Sensitive Wash contains no added perfume or essential oils, making it especially useful where an unscented finish is preferred.

    FAQs

Why does the water look darker after soaking my knit socks?

Please always test your yarns for colourfastness before washing. The natural cleaning agents in the formula will gently remove grime and dirt from your garment, which will be visible in the basin when you remove your item from the water. For very soiled socks, you can repeat the soaking process twice, or until satisfied with the outcome.

CAN I SOAK MY SOCKS FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES?

In most cases it is safe to soak your socks for longer than 20 minutes, however, we always recommend checking the care information of the yarn you’ve used and special requirements.

Can I use YarnFood in the washing machine?

Yes, you can use Yarn Food in the washing machine on a wool or delicate cycle. Add 15 ml, or 9 pumps, either directly into the machine or into the detergent drawer. Your garments will still be cleaned and fed, but some of the nourishment may be washed out in the rinsing process, which is why
the hand-wash and soak option is the preferred method for Yarn Food.
