The Yarn Food Assorted Wash Minis Bundle brings together all four of our 100 ml specialist washes, giving you the right care for wool and animal fibres, cotton and plant fibres, hardworking socks, and fragrance-free sensitive care.

Each 100 ml bottle gives you up to 20 hand washes based on 5 ml per 5 litres of soft water, making the bundle ideal for discovering the range, travelling, gifting, or caring for a mixed natural-fibre wardrobe.

1. WHY YARN FOOD?

FOUR WASHES, COMPLETE NATURAL-FIBRE CARE
Different fibres have different needs. This bundle gives you a specialist wash for animal fibres, plant fibres, socks and fragrance-free sensitive care.

WOOL CARE WITH LANOLIN
Wool Wash is designed for wool, cashmere, merino, alpaca, mohair, angora and other animal fibres, with added lanolin to help maintain their naturally soft, supple feel.

PLANT-FIBRE CARE WITH COTTON SEED OIL
Cotton Wash is designed for cotton, linen, bamboo, hemp and other plant fibres and blends, with cotton seed oil to help maintain their soft, smooth feel.

SPECIALIST SOCK CARE
Sock Wash combines fibre-specific care with lanolin and a crisp tea tree fragrance, making it particularly suited to frequently worn wool, merino and other natural-fibre socks.

PURE & SIMPLE SENSITIVE CARE
Sensitive Wash is our purest and simplest formula. With no added fragrance or essential oils and enriched with aloe vera, it is designed with sensitive skin in mind and is particularly well suited to silk.

NO REPEATED RINSING REQUIRED
Our low-foam washes use surfactants that loosen dirt from the fibres and suspend it in the wash water. When you lift the garment out, the loosened dirt stays in the water rather than settling back into the fibres. Because the formulas are low-foaming, repeated rinsing isn’t needed. This means less handling and agitation of delicate fibres during washing, while allowing the caring ingredients to remain in the garment.

2. FRAGRANCE

WOOL WASH
A soft lavender fragrance.

COTTON WASH
A light, fresh citrus fragrance.

SOCK WASH
A crisp, clean tea tree fragrance.

SENSITIVE WASH
Completely fragrance-free, with no added perfume or essential oils.

3. HOW TO USE

HAND WASHING

Fill a basin with 5 litres of cold to tepid water.
Add 3–6 pumps (5–10 ml) of your chosen Yarn Food Wash:
3 pumps / 5 ml for soft water
6 pumps / 10 ml for hard water
Submerge the garment and leave to soak for 20 minutes.
Gently squeeze out excess water. Avoid rubbing, wringing or excessive agitation.
Roll the garment in a clean towel and press out further moisture.
Lay flat, hang or block to dry, depending on the garment.
There is no need for repeated rinsing.
Always follow the yarn ball’s or garment manufacturer’s washing and temperature instructions.

MACHINE WASHING

Our No-Rinse Washes are designed to nourish your garments as a hand-wash treatment. We therefore strongly recommend using the hand-wash method above for the best fibre-care benefits.

If you still choose to use one of the washes in the washing machine:

Use on an appropriate wool, delicate or gentle cycle, following the yarn ball’s or garment manufacturer’s washing and temperature instructions.
For Wool Wash and Sock Wash, the long-term conditioning effect of the added lanolin cannot be guaranteed when machine washing, as repeated machine rinsing may progressively remove lanolin from the fibres.
For Cotton Wash, the long-term conditioning effect of the added cotton seed oil cannot be guaranteed when machine washing.
For particularly delicate, handmade or treasured garments, we recommend hand washing.

FAQs

Why does the water look darker after soaking my knit socks?

Please always test your yarns for colourfastness before washing. The natural cleaning agents in the formula will gently remove grime and dirt from your garment, which will be visible in the basin when you remove your item from the water. For very soiled socks, you can repeat the soaking process twice, or until satisfied with the outcome.

CAN I SOAK MY SOCKS FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES?

In most cases it is safe to soak your socks for longer than 20 minutes, however, we always recommend checking the care information of the yarn you’ve used and special requirements.

Can I use YarnFood in the washing machine?

Yes, you can use Yarn Food in the washing machine on a wool or delicate cycle. Add 15 ml, or 9 pumps, either directly into the machine or into the detergent drawer. Your garments will still be cleaned and fed, but some of the nourishment may be washed out in the rinsing process, which is why
the hand-wash and soak option is the preferred method for Yarn Food.
